Words cannot express how vitally important Alison was to my nursing and overall parenting journey. I had a complicated birth story and as my medical team moved their focus to other concerns, Alison was there to facilitate my goal of breast feeding my new baby.
But my relationship with Alison began long before that first day in the nursing room and continued long after. We did classes that extended well beyond breast feeding , drawing on her extensive experience as an L&D nurse. These discussions brought much more comfort and confidence than the courses I attended at the hospital. She new an unmedicated birth was important to me and also helped me visualize and prepare for that experience as well.
Once I left the hospital, I had a ton of questions as my baby changed (growth spurts, preferences in position, let-down, flow, etc) and Alison quickly responded to all of my questions with an understanding patience and empathy that I really needed during that sensitive time. She is the best part of my birth story, and I am so grateful for all the skills she taught me.

I worked with Alison who came to see me in the comfort of my home. Alison was very knowledgeable, kind, and professional. My daughter has not been gaining weight as she should. I was/am being directed to increase formula supplementation more and more from the pediatrician. I was even told I could just stop breast feeding. After seeing Alison, I was given tools to help support my goal of breastfeeding as much as possible. We were able to figure out that my milk supply was decent and that the issue lies in transfer to my baby. She gave me strategies to increase milk supply and get my baby as much high calorie milk as possible. She also identified symptoms of a tongue tie that my pediatrician did not catch, even though I expressed concerns at their office. So after this visit I felt supported, encouraged, and equipped with tools and next steps for success.
